Trip to Three Floyds

This Saturday was Dark Lord Day at Three Floyds! It's an annual festival and the only day of the year to buy Three Floyds Dark Lord Russian Imperial Stout. Though I'm not much of a stout drinker, this is the second year that Tim and I have gone and it is a ton of fun. Saturday was beautiful, we met a lot of nice people and really had a great day. Reggie's offers a free bus for Chicagoans going to the festival―the bus adventure alone is amazing.

Chicago Doughnut Crawl

Stop one, Doughnut Vault.

My mom made an impromptu trip to visit me and my brother in Chicago this weekend, so we went on a doughnut crawl! I'm no doughnut fanatic, but this was a really fun way to spend the day!

We went to four Chicago doughnut hot spots (map): Doughnut Vault, Firecakes, Do-Rite Donuts, and Glazed and Infused. If I were to do this again, I would check the specials calendar at Doughnut Vault ahead of time and pick a warmer day - it was just a little too cold to really enjoy our donuts outside in the sun. Only Glazed and Infused had room to eat inside.

Our spoils at Doughnut Vault! We were in line for an hour, my birthday cake doughnut (bottom) was worth the wait.

Stop two, Firecakes! Just down the street. The Butterscotch Praline was Jack's favorite doughnut of the day.

Do-Rite Donuts, stop three. Arriving around noon, we missed out on most of their flavors, but they let us know we were lucky to get a Maple Bacon - we thought so too!

Final stop! We took a much needed walk to the Fulton Market Glazed and Infused.

Family of (dough)nuts. ;)
