My mom made an impromptu trip to visit me and my brother in Chicago this weekend, so we went on a doughnut crawl! I'm no doughnut fanatic, but this was a really fun way to spend the day!
We went to
four Chicago doughnut hot spots (map): Doughnut Vault, Firecakes, Do-Rite Donuts, and Glazed and Infused. If I were to do this again, I would check the specials calendar at
Doughnut Vault ahead of time and pick a warmer day - it was just a
little too cold to really enjoy our donuts outside in the sun. Only Glazed and Infused had room to eat inside.

Our spoils at Doughnut Vault! We were in line for an hour, my birthday cake doughnut (bottom) was worth the wait. |

Stop two, Firecakes! Just down the street. The Butterscotch Praline was Jack's favorite doughnut of the day. |
|
Do-Rite Donuts, stop three. Arriving around noon, we missed out on most of their flavors, but they let us know we were lucky to get a Maple Bacon - we thought so too! |

Family of (dough)nuts. ;) |
